Blake's First Birthday

Woah, what a year!

What's up with Blake

As of the beginning of March, Blake still isn't walking. He is getting very good at standing unsupported for long periods of time. He's also to do the twist unsupported. Yeah, that's one is pretty odd for a non-walker. He's also 27 pounds.

Blake's Story

Blake was born with craniosynostosis, a birth defect that affects 1 in 2000 babies. Because his metopic (forehead) suture was prematurely closed and his head couldn't grow normally, his head had a triangular shape. Apart from the stigma of an odd-shaped head, craniosynostosis can potentially cause brain damage in severe cases.

Because of this, we elected for Blake to have surgery. Blake had surgery at Children's Hospital in DC on September 3, 2008. Read his story and see his amazingrecovery.
